Pregnant after a Loss

Did you paint?

Or make someone else do it? My MIL & I painted SD's room yesterday & of course my paranoid self got all nervous after we were done. If you did paint, what kind did you use. We obviously used a latex paint, which everything I have read seems to be the safest. I just find myself worrying over every little thing. I really need to stop!

Re: Did you paint?

  • I did but I used Dutch Boy Refresh-its safe to use (according to my doc) because it doesnt emmit the same chemicals as other paints.  I am sure all brands make the same kind of low odor/low emmissions paint but I have found with 3 kids in the house, Dutch Boy is my fave-it cleans up super easy.

  • My brother and DH are going to be painting ours in 2 weeks, we're going to use the no VOC paint. I can relate to worrying over every little thing though - on Friday when we got to the lake the men rented a wave runner for the afternoon. I knew I couldn't go on them, but we wanted to go swim and to get there we had to go on the wave runner. So I made DH drive so slowly that there was no bouncing or anything - but I still worried all night until I felt LO move again. And sometimes I freak out about stuff I've eaten when I eat out too - it sucks how the mind gets going and makes you crazy!!!
  • We used Kilz paint in DD's room (we had just bought the house, can't be too safe!) and I participated when I was 24-32 weeks. I kept the window and door to her room open and took frequent breaks. When it came time for touchups when I was 38 weeks, my mom made me sit it out. I'm not sure why, but she was insistant. :) My Dr said it was fine as long as there was adequate ventillation and I sat down when I needed to and drank lots of water.

    Our family is complete!

  • I totally would have but DH wouldn't let me in the room. I wouldn't worry as long as it was latex based.
  • We're not painting the baby's room, but if we did, I would not do it myself.  We are remodeling our master bath right now, and DH did the painting.  He used low-emission paint, but it still smells, so I would have been breathing in something.
  • I painted- we got the no VOC Valspar paint from Lowes. It was really nice- wasn't stinky like usual or anything! I'm glad I painted early on, b/c the bigger I get, the harder it is to climb up on things and feel safe about it!
