DH and I are not yet TTC, but we have a short list of names that we'd already like for our children. We really like the name Davin/Davon James...but I'm curious to know how people would pronounce it.
The way we would want to pronounce it is Day-vin.
How would you say it?
Thanks ![]()
Re: Davin/Davon - Pronunciation?
I doubt many people would pronounce either spelling as Dayvin.
Davin will get said like David but with an n.
Davon will be said close to Devon but with "Dah".
it's called a kilt, he's scottish
By the way you want it pronounced I woulg go w/ Davin. I have a friend named Davon and we call him Dav-ughn.
I saw the the name Davin, I would probably say it like David, but Day-vin.
If I saw Davon, I would say Duh-von.
Day-vin (like in)
Day-von (like on)

Thanks for your opinions. We obviously have time to think about it, but I would say we'd probably go with Davin.
And, referring to the quote above, my husband and I obviously want the name pronounced as Day-vin, as mentioned in my first post. That's how we've always said it between the two of us...though we don't know anyone with the name. In that case, we just weren't sure which spelling would be best for that pronunciation.
