2nd Trimester

registering is super intense!

Wedding registering was a breeze compared to baby registering!  Ugh I have no clue what I need or will need.  Like when I got to the breast pump aisle...ummmm yeah who knows?!?!  I'm super stressed...anyone else?!

  • Take a friend with you first - someone who recently had a baby and can give you some tips.  I did, and it was SO helpful.  DH was very appreciative too, because going into BRU was VERY overwhelming for him.

completely with you on this one!!!  I don't know where to begin.  I just finished e-mailing one of my friends who already has a baby for advice & tips...and I plan on harassing all my friends who have kids so I can get thru this in one piece :)

     Good luck to you!!

This. My sister is going to help us when we get around to it. I think it will be very helpful.

I was stressed but I did two different things that really helped. First I bought and read Baby Bargains. I didn't follow every little piece of advice, but it was super helpful in narrowing down what you really need and how to get the most bang for your buck. The second (and most helpful) thing I did was take one of my best friends who has a one year old to Babies R Us with me. We went up and down every aisle and she said what she would have died without, what was a waste and what she would have loved to have. If you do your research before you go, I promise it won't be so bad. Plus, know that you can change your registry at any time, add and delete things from home or in store.

DH and I just went and registered today!  We brought Baby Bargains and the CR Baby Product guide with us, along with a list that my friend gave us.  That made things a lot easier.  We saw some other stuff that we know will require more research, so we split those up between us.  And there are things that we will register for that will be gender specific, so we'll wait until after the big u/s for that.

  • you gotta read baby bargains or you will end up with a crapload of things you don't need. it's totally stressful but it can be broken down.  and think long term.  think beyond the newborn phase.
  • yeah...we just got back from registering at BRU and spent 2 hours. we still haven't added everything!
  • I also recommend bringing a recent mom as a friend. I did that, and she had great insight on what she wished she had gotten but didn't, and what she had received and found useless. It made it much easier, especially for the little things. For the big stuff (like the strollers and car seats), I read Baby Bargains and did some online research, narrowed it down to a few, and then DH and I will be going to make a final decision. He was not really into picking bottles or things like that, and it was a fun day for the girls.
