1- week old - wake baby to feed or not?

I have heard and read mixed things on this.

Did you or do you wake baby to nurse?

My DS was back at his birthweight by day 4.  I never woke him to feed him, but he was a big boy (9lb 6oz).  What did your pedi tell you?

I did until Thursday when we went to the ped and saw that she is up almost a pound from her birth weight.  The ped cleared us to just feed on demand now.

our pedi told us to not go longer than 3 hours without a feeding so right now I'll change her diaper to wake her. I'm sure that is only because she is still so new so I'm not sure how long we are supposed to do this for.

My dd reached her birth weight 2 days after we left the hospital but my pedi told me I shouldn't let her go longer than 4 hours without nursing.  So I fed her on demeand during the dan and would wake her up every 3-4 hours at night to feed her until she was about 4 weeks old.

My pedi told me not to go more than 3 hours w/o nursing until DS regained his birth weight, then said feeding on demand was fine.

If she isn't up by four hours, I would wake her. Stop waking after she reaches her birth weight.

At 1 week, if LO has gone more than 4 hours, I would. Call your pedi on Mon and find out when they recommend letting them sleep longer than that.?
