only one baby moves??

Does anyone have this prob? I am 18 weeks and have been feeling one baby a lot. the other has not moved. When I had my first US. one was very active and teh other was not. I hope i am just being overly worried...which is normal I guess....TIA

Re: only one baby moves??

  • They move so much that you could actually be feeling both.  Also, if one of the babies is facing your back you wouldn't feel the movement as much.  I had an anterior placenta and was constantly freaked out about the lack of movement... I'm sure everything is fine!
  • I didn't feel either baby until 19w so I think it's a little early to be concerned. This can also be affected by the position of the babies (one might be kicking you while the other is kicking his/her twin!) and of your placenta.

  • I think this is common. ONe of mine has an ant. placenta & I rarely felt/feel her move. Now at 34 weeks I feel her more b/c she is bigger but still nowhere near as much as the other. At 2 diff appts in the late 20 weeks we checked on u/s (she was moving but still not as much as the other) and on NST (lots of movement picked up & I felt maybe 5% of it) which was reassuring but at 18 weeks it's still kind early regardless.  It worried me a lot too but now I'm just used to it. GL!
  • Like the other posts, I too have one anterior placenta. I worry about her (she also seems "shy" and less active even on the u/s) but my peri said that is common and I prob. won't feel her as much as my twin with a posterior placenta.

  • My baby B, the one on top, didn't move nearly as much as Baby A.  I always assumed it was the positioning or less space to move around...

Now that they're out, not much has changed.. Baby B is so mellow and not nearly as kicky or wound up all the time as Baby A....

  • My twins were this way. The one on the right ALWAYS moved and I was always concerned about the one on the left.  He just hung out.  I'm glad to say that my twins are here and both are healthy!  In fact, the one that was so inactive in the womb is actually the healthier of the two!  Samuel has really bad acid reflux and Anderson does not!  Try not to worry too much.  I know its easier said than done though.  I worried until they were out and safe.
  • I def. felt my son more than my daughter throughout the pregnancy and I hated it, always made me nervous but it was due to her position and the placenta position.

Baby on the right was always head down, and hardly ever moved.  (L was the exact same way, same position and all)

Baby on the left was total opposite.  She was head up, head down, sideways, facing forward, facing backwards (I could at times feel her spine when I rubbed my belly) She moved, flipped & kicked all the time.

I didnt really worry because I had a weekly u/s and could see that she was fine even though she didnt move around a lot.

I could have written the exact same response. B is still so mellow and A doesn't stop moving - same as inutero.
