Ugh. Bad night

During one of our feedings last night I put DD on my right breast. Well, she latched on like normal and was nursing away but I was in so much pain I was nauseas. My husband woke up and got me a compress and tired to calm me down but the pain was excruciating! We nursed on the other breast so, no she didn't starve last night. I noticed my nipple was red and swollen so I'm wondering if its not cracking. I am able to pump with minimal discomfort, thank God, because I produce a ton of milk and get engorged so easily! Any ideas what the pain could be and how to treat it?

check all over and see if she bit you. DD got me good once. also make sure you aren't developing mastitis or a clogged duct.
