I'm thinking of trying it. I know it's not something I can continue forever but I need something to help me zap off some lbs! I don't have time to "think" what to make that's healthy for dinner so I think this will be perfect.
I also posted this on the 0-6 month board. What am I suppose to put in the subject line? XP or something like that?!?!
Re: Anyone try Jenny Craig?
Your kids have the same birthday? That's interesting.
I did JC after I had my son. I made my husband do it with me. We did the six week program. He lost 20lbs. I lost 10lbs. I joined with the main goal of training my body to recognize proper portion control. I'm a naturally healthy eater and cook. I was lacking the portion control. I also started out with a trainer at the same time. I recommend JC to anyone looking to jump start a new healthier lifestyle. Most people feel it's all about the food when really it's all about how much food. You can still eat the foods you love. Just eat them in a different way and in smaller portions.
The one thing I wasn't crazy about was that all the meals were pasta dishes and other heavier dishes. I like tofu and vegetables. I learned to make my meals stretch and bigger/more filling by adding steamed veggies to most of the meals.
I also skipped most of the snacks so that I could still have my two glasses of wine each evening. The desert I didn't skip was the lemon cake. OMG those little things are so good. So are the chocolate cakes. I would put them on a plate with a drizzle of raspberry sauce and a bit of whipped cream. Or I'd do half a cake with fresh berries.
I am 22w pregnant now and I've considered going back on JC. Not for weight loss obviously but for portion control.
I lost 30 pounds on it in high school. My mom is on it right now.
Pluses: The foods are actually tasty. There is a wide variety and if you don't like their pre-planned menus, you can make your own.
Negatives: It is hella expensive. Food is about $100 a week. The food is processed. The "counselors" are not trained in anything. They might be able to give you some tips, but you need to be motivated yourself. They will not motivate you.
