In stupid CA, they texture the walls inside of houses. ?I want to put khaki colored vertical stripes in the nursery from the chair rail in the middle of the wall up to the ceiling. ?I have attempted stripes in the past and failed miserably when the paint bled under the painters tape because it does not fully adhere to the wall in all of the nooks and crannies of the texturing. ?Does anyone have any design techniques that have successfully overcome this obstacle? ?I would really hate to compromise my design idea...?
?
Any techniques or tricks, please share! ?Thanks!?
Re: Decor technique help, please!
You either need to do an amazing tape job like a professional or you need to put in vertical striped wallpaper from the chair rail up. If you are set on painting then you may bring in a pro to do it.
I suggest VERY light coats of paint on the edges... like almost drybrushing light. If you still get bleeding, use a tiny paintbrush to correct the bleeding.
It will be time consuming, but that's the best I can tell you.
What about boardering your lines after they are painted with something like thin bead board, or ribbon.
I've never used, but have heard great things about that green tape, it's got a thicker glue that helps fill in the little voids.
I have the textured paint, too. It's called Orange Peel Texture and it's freaking annoying!
We have textured walls and have used a technique that works great. Tape your walls with painter's tape then use your finger and put a very thin layer of caulk (make sure it is clear i think we used silicone) on the edge of the tape. The paint will cover the caulk and you will never be able to tell it is there. I scored the edge of the tape lightly with a utility knife to make sure the tape came off clean. It is a little bit of work but the lines come out perfect. HTH
