avoiding green tea while TTC

I read an article that said those TTC or in the 2WW should avoid green tea because the high amounts of antioxidants can work against folic acid. I can't remember where I read this of course, but thought it was very interesting since that is what I drink every single morning!!! I know there are so many do's and don'ts out there being thrown at us so take it FWIW

I hadn't heard that one - there's a cup of green tea sitting waiting for me right now.  I did hear its good to drink before ovulation to help increase CM, I'd love to hear what others have to say on this.  Quickly, so I can switch to coffee if I need to!

Green tea can interfere with folic acid absorption. If you drink it a few hours after your PNVs, you should be fine. I stop it in my 2ww because of the folic acid issue, but drink it the rest of my cycle.

I have heard that drinking green tea before O can help increase CM and that you should stop once you O.  I think if you told me eating kiwi, skin and all, would help me get pregnant I'd be trying that!

yes, I've heard this. ALTHOUGH you are supposed to drink it while you're waiting to O because it increased EWCM. However you should stop after O because it can inhibit implantation.

Then again people get pg all the time drinking tea (and smoking and drinking, and being meth-heads) so if you like tea, drink tea. Just my .02

This made me laugh out loud.  I too think it is unfair that us TTTC girls are so conscious of everything whereas there are women who drink, smoke, etc.. have no problems getting pregnant.

i've read about this. a cup a day is probably fine, and it has been shown in some studies to INCREASE fertility. so i have a cup a day a few hours away from my folic acid pill.

Yeah, that's a good idea. BTW, is that a basset hound in your pix? I have one too and LOVE him, they are the best breed!
