What happens after they're both out of MOI?  Next steps?

After MOI, passports are printed: 1-2 weeks

Then medical exams are conducted: ~1 week

Then we wait for USCIS approval: ~2 weeks (IF USCIS has all the documents they need)

Then we wait for visas: ? I'm not sure how long this takes

Altogether, I think they could be home 2-3 months after they are both out of MOI. Because they are bio siblings and very closely bonded to each other, we won't bring one home without the other even if one is ready to travel before the other.

Ministry of the Interior (Haitian)--the governmental body that checks over the adoption file for fraud and issues approval for passports. Our adoptions were actually legalized by the Haitian government a year ago. MOI was supposed to take 1-3 months, but it's been 10 1/2 for our son and ? for our daughter.

  • I really hope this means things will move forward for you soon--meaning bringing those kids HOME!
  • Yaaaaaaayyyyyy!

That's so exciting! You're almost have your kids!!!!

  • I don't know what that means but I gather its amazing news!!!!!!
Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • YEAH!!!  You deserve some good news!  fingers and toes crossed that your DD's paperwork goes through soon and they can come home VERY soon!!!  Enjoy your trip and seeing your children!

  • OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!!  I am SO happy to hear this news!  I pray for your situation often, and have often thought that we might have a little celebration in my house when you finally get to bring you little ones home.

You have been on my mind all week, for some reason, and I'm so happy to hear that you finally have great news.  I will continue to pray that your daughter's file is released soon, so you can bring your children home where they belong.

I am very happy for you, and I pray that the rest of the process goes quickly and smoothly.

Have a great trip, and hug the stuffing out of your little ones.  Hopefully now you will be able to tell them that you will be reunited for good the next time you are together.  Oh happy day!
