For the last few days, my right hand feels tingly/numb. It's very similar to the feeling of your foot/hand falling asleep but it's pretty constant and only affects my right hand. When I grip something tightly the tingling sensation intensifies.
I go back to the doctor Monday and will discuss it with her but has anyone else experienced this?
Re: Hand tingling/numbness...
I have the same issue. But don't worry my dr said it is just the swelling because you are in you 3rd trimester and you are in the summer some days are better then others. There is swelling occuring in you arm's / wrists that is pressing on your nerves once the baby is born the swelling will go down and so will the numbness/ tingling
I've been getting it in my left hand middle finger. I do realize that I'm sleeping on my arm at night and wake up with pins and needles. I read up on it and this can be common during pregnancy.
From babycenter.com:
Why am I having tingling and numbness in my hands during pregnancy?
These sensations are most likely caused by carpal tunnel syndrome. Although you probably associate this condition with people whose jobs require repetitive hand movements (such as data processors, computer programmers, and assembly-line workers), it's also more prevalent in pregnant women.
Symptoms may include numbness, tingling, burning, pain, or a dull ache in the fingers, hand, wrist, and even up the arm to the shoulder. In severe chronic cases, your hand may feel clumsy or weak.
Symptoms usually affect both hands and can appear at any time, but they're more likely to begin or worsen in the second half of pregnancy when women tend to retain more fluid. The symptoms usually go away gradually after you give birth, as the swelling from pregnancy subsides.
carpul tunnel... sorry you are suffering with it. Be very careful what you pick up with that hand - CT usually results in dropping things too and you'd hate to drop a knife or something dangerous like a hot pan or something. Get your s/o to help out with those tasks.
They say pregnancy-induced CT goes away after you've delivered - hopefully it does for you. I have it as a result of being a grocery checkout girl 9 years ago - I've just had to live with it... put your hand in a tensor wrap if its really floppy tho ok? its best to keep it straight to keep the nerves from pinching too much.
Yes, I was losing sleep from waking up with numbness and pain in my hands. ?My joints on my fingers are also painful. ?I had to resort to sleeping in wrist splints and it has helped a lot.
I can't wait for it to go away!?
Thanks ladies. It makes sense with all the swelling I've had lately (feet, ankles, legs, face, etc.)
It's driving me bananas because I'm having a hard time holding on to anything. I'll look in to getting a wrist splint or something if it continues. It makes even the most minuscule task difficult.
