Have I really turned the toilet seat blue???

OK-you're gonna laugh but for months now my husband and I noticed that our normally white toilet seat has been going blue in color. We have one of those squishy soft seats.?

Now, I should explain that I have not switched cleaning products so I know its not that. Also, I have not bought new clothes and I certainly pull my pants down before sitting on the seat anyway-lol.

So we just couldn't explain it until I put 2 and 2 together. I went to wash our bed sheets and noticed that only my side has a bluish hue to it. Now I KNOW its me who is causing things to turn blue! I just don't know how I'm doing this-anyone else have this happen? I'm probably the only weirdo turning things blue...and yet I kind of like having this ability :-p

  • Maybe dye rubbing off from the inside of your jeans or something?

  • LOL.  Will bleach take it off? or maybe rubbing alcohol.

  • Weird!  The only thing that popped into my head was the "Blue Twinkies" chapter in Jenny McCarthy's book Belly Laughs - lol.
  • Teehee I had a mental image of you turning into a smurf!

That's odd- no idea what could cause that if not clothing related.

  • Rofl.  Is your butt blue?!  That is a weird superpower, indeed...
  • i do believe you have an acute case of Smurfitis. It's highly contagious and can be rather dangerous. Make sure to stay away from men named Gargamel and their cats Azrael as this could be hazardous to your health.

  • Google says theres a dye in blue jeans that won't show on your skin but will show on toilet seats (yes other people had that same problem)

    Buy any new jeans lately?

  • LOL-I love all the smurf references b/c that's exactly how I feel! And no, I checked already-my butt is not blue. I think its some sort of hormonal/chemical thing. I still haven't heard of anyone else having this blue super power yet-come on, I know you're out there somewhere ladies!
  • I should also note that I don't even wear blue jeans anymore as its too damn hot. I live in dresses or soft pants. Any other suggestions??? LOL
  • I remember this happening to us a while ago. If you google it there are many people who have had this problem. I guess it is some kind of chemical reaction with the plastic.

  • Other google answers say its a reaction to hormones in your body during pregnancy and actually happens alot... Funny tho lol
  • OH MY GOSH this was seriously happening to me a few months ago, but I was turning everything PINK!!  I thought I was loosing my mind and DH was freaking out bc we thought something was really wrong with me.  Turns out, it was a brown skirt (from Old Navy, stupid cheap dyes that wore off) that was wearing off on my skin (although you couldn't see the pink on my skin).  The pink was EVERYWHERE.  Our toilet seats are all pink (I have tried all kinds of cleaners, even bleach, with no luck) my car seat, the insides of my white tank tops, the insides of shirts, underwear, etc. You name it, if it touched my skin after I had worn the brown skirt, it is now pink.  I was glad to finally figure out what it was because it was really starting to freak me out.  I understand how you feel though, it is a scary feeling.  Are you sure it isn't something you are wearing that is rubbing off on everything?

  • Oh and I should add that it was my mom who finally figured it out...I never would have put 2 and 2 together to realize that my BROWN skirt was turning everything PINK.  But, she said that when you wash something brown, it will often turn the water pink, which I hadn't thought about.  So, in your case it might not necessarily be something BLUE you are wearing, but another color that would bleed blue. Does this make sense?!

  • Are you sweating more do to being pregnant which is picking up the dye in your jeans? Even though its not turning your butt blue it could still be turning the toilet blue?

We had sheets on our bed that weren't new, but because I am sweating more (not even noticable to someone else) the sheets colored our mattress.
