NYC inspired names

Hello ladies,

Although I am not PG yet I am thinking about names. I like the idea of a theme for names such as all begining with M's but I couldn't think of any good boys names. So now I've started thinking about NYC inspired names like Madison (as in the avenue or garden) or Bryant (as in the park) maybe even William (as in Williamsburg).

Anyone have any to suggest?

Re: NYC inspired names

  • although I am not a fan of theme names, I'll help you out since I'm bored and NYC is close to my heart Wink

    Here are some ideas...

Madison: The Grand Madison, Madison Square Garden

    Chelsea:  The Chelsea Market

Brooklyn or Bronx are popular choices

Ellis:  Ellis Island (could be a good MN)

    Ansonia:  Ansonia Hotel

    Beacon:  The Beacon Theatre

    Brooks: Brooks Atkinson Theatre

    Lincoln:  Lincoln Center

  • DD is Brooklynn.  DH was born and raised in Brooklyn...so her name was inspired by that.
  • Hmmm I forgot about Ellis and I kind of like it as a MN. And Brook Lynn is my top name because Lynn is a family MN. Oh and how could I forget its the greatest boro AKA my birth boro!

  • I don't have any suggestions but wanted to say that is a really cute idea!

  • You could do Haddie for a girl...like after Manhattan
  • I like Bryant, Haddie, and Ellis.

Here are other names that remind me of New York - Hudson, Staten, Hatten, Brighton (beach), Lenox (hill), Murray ( hill), Jefferson (park), Bennett (park), Tryon (park), there are also hundreds of parks/playgrounds with names like Emerson, Bailey, Greeley, Mae Grant, McKenna, etc and there are street names depending on where you live like Montgomery, Monroe, Franklin, etc.

There are really so many names related to NYC that there's a lot ot choose from. To me, Madison is a popular name that just happens to be a place in New York, so I wouldn't use it as a "New York inspired name."

    Good luck!

  • You ladies have great ideas that never crossed my mind. I was thinking Lennox because I like names with an X for some reason.

I know Madison might be considered popular even though I've never met one, but I especially like it because if we do get lucky anytime soon our child would be raised on Madison Ave.

Keep them coming if you have any more.

I LOVE Chelsea and Ellis! It's a nod to the city without being overly obvious.

If you like x names you could consider Lexi (like Lexington)
