DS spits up all.the.time. It doesn't bother him one bit though. He never seems like he's in pain, he's gaining weight just fine (probably more than fine...lol) and he is generally a happy baby. I am breastfeeding and try to watch what I eat but I don't have anything other than purple onions that I've found bothers him. I really don't want to put him on any medicine if I don't have to, especially since he seems just fine. We go back to the dr. next week and I plan on mentioning it to her. Did any of you experience this? I think it could be from over-eating sometimes but sometimes it happens for no reason. Those of you that had trouble with acid reflux: was your baby in pain and in need of medicine? It doesn't really bother me (other than washing a million shirts a week) but I'm just a tad concerned.

Re: Lots of spit up?
Crazy Christmas Kids!
DD does and her doctor told me that once she sits up better will should stop. He did order an Upper GI and everything was ok but they did say her took her a long time to drain. So I just try and hold her up for about 15 min after she eats and also fed her more solid food.
Good Luck?
DS doesn't spit up much, when he does, but it can be frequent. We constantly keep a bib on him, so we aren't having to change outfits all the time. I did find that when he was spitting up more, i cut back on his feeding amount, and it helped a little (as long as I could tell he was "just eating b/c the bottle was in his mouth" as opposed to really still being hungry).
I think babies with reflux generally have pain associated with it (crying), so as long as he is a "happy spitter", I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I think as long as the doc doesn't find any irritation in his esophagus, it is likely you won't need meds. DS screamed every time he ate, arched his back, had trouble sleeping, etc., before meds so it was more than just the spit up. Even after meds, he spit up a ton, but he had less pain... He only stopped spitting up consistently in the last month or two (6.5 months or so), but--of course-- he manages to always spit up when we are in public or at a playgroup (especially when I forget a burp cloth).
Good tip--I used to wait to put on a shirt I would wear out of the house only AFTER he was in his carseat and ready to go. I also have some really cute burp cloths, because they were a constant fixture.
