Diaper Bag Alternative? Something cute for a boy...

I'm really tired of taking my diaper bag around everywhere we go.  DS is almost 16 months now so I don't really need that much...just a diaper or 2, wipes, snack, sippy cup, portable place mats, hand sanitizer...okay, so maybe there is still alot!  LOL!  But, I really want something that doesn't seem so baby-ish and bulky and something that my husband wouldn't mind carrying too.  I'm thinking some type of cute backpack type of thing that I could get monogrammed with his name on it.  Any ideas?  I'd love to see pics if you've got them or a link to it.  TIA!

  • I got this way cute small bag from BRU.  It is brown and is just how you described, just big enough for essentials.  It doesn't even look like a diaper bag.  It is suede from Carters.  I would check it out.

  • We got a super cute little Thomas the Train backpack. It's smaller so it's easy to take places, but still holds everything I need. I got it at Target by the backpacks. My DH carries it all the time too. I LOVE it!

  • Check out Etsy ... they have a BUNCH of super cute totes that double as diaper bags, without being overly 'diaperbag-ish'.

  • I just use a purse...in fact I treated myself to a nice one (although cheap by most nest standards, $160 is a lot for me!) for my birthday.  I don't think I've used a diaper bag for 9 or 10 months!  It fits everything I need: a diaper and extra diaper cover, a ziploc bag for a dirty and a sippy cup, plus all my junk.
  • I bought a Tech Diaper Bag from PBK for $15.  I figured I'd get it personalized at the mall or something.  It's a real nice bag, something for us to keep in the car.  One of the nestie/Mommy's suggested this as an alternative to a bulky diaper bag.

  • I carry a Vera Bradley tote (not the diaper bag, just a tote) and use it as my purse and my diaper bag. I am not a huge Vera Bradley fan but I needed something washable and not too expensive, and with this one I can stuff it as full as needed since it is cloth, or I can just pop a few things in.

  • Okay, just noticed you want something your husband can carry, too. Unless he is a woman, he probably would not be interested in Vera Bradley.

DH's diaper bag is a Columbia backpack-style diaper bag. It works for him.

  • Just thought of something else. My DS carries his backpack all by himself, he looks so cute!. That's the main reason we picked a backpack. He's so proud walking around with it. The straps adjust so it fits DH too. (who also looks cute with it)

  • My SIL got us the diaper dude camo messenger bag, we use that as our primary bag but I also have a Winnie the Pooh backpack that was free from Scholastic and a KC Royals backpack. I alternate them based on where we're going/how long we'll be gone.

I am excited for DS to get to the point where he can wear the backpack.
