Vaccines with fever?

Eli is supposed to have his 18 month checkup today and get shots, including the MMR.  He's had a fever the past couple of days.  I'm not sure if it's teeth or viral, but I'm thinking fever=no shots right?  Even if they would, I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.  I think I'll reschedule the shots.

  • I'd definitely reschedule the shots.  Many vax injury cases have been when the child was given shots when sick, even something minor. :(  Go with your gut!  I hope he feels better soon!

  • I wouldn't be too worried if it was just a cold, but would probably reschedule for a fever since you don't know what might be wrong and wouldn't want the fever to get higher from shots.

  • They'd probably still give them to him, but I'd reschedule if he already had a fever.  Especially for a shot like MMR, since it's a live virus, you'd want his immune system to be in good shape for that one going in.
