when do you start to use an umbrella stroller?

Re: when do you start to use umbrella stroller?

  • We're not getting one before LO gets here, since he'll be in his travel system for a while.

  • We plan on using it when baby has okay neck/head control.  Maybe around 4 months?  I did buy one this week because it was such a great deal.
  • I believe they need to be at least 6 months old for the umbrella stroller.  I have a cheapo one and it doesn't have the 5 point harness, so we didn't put DD in one until she was over 9 months.

ok sounds like we definately dont need one now then ... we'll wait a few months and spend money on something else for baby.
  • i would say at least 6m or when baby can sit up by himself with no problem. I absolutely HATE when i see some dumbazz with one of those strollers and the poor LO is all sideways and falling down b/c hes too little to be in it yet...

  • I don't think that you should use them until LO can hold their head up on their own because they have no support in them whatsoever. Thats just my opinion though

  • We used one with DS when he was around 3 months old. It didn't last long though. Not a fan of them.

The Maclaren Triumph that we got can get used as early a 3 months. I think we'll probably use the snap and go with her carseat til about 6 months and then switch over.
  • I believe baby has to be 6 mos old to safely use an umbrella stroller.  Check out the guidelines for the model you are interested in.   I don't think you need to buy it now.
