Yogurt

DS has a milk soy protein intolerance, but is tolerating the stuff I have slowly added back into my diet. I was wanting to try him on yogurt now. Which kind do you give your LO. I know a lot of people do the yo baby brand. Is there a difference between that and the other brands. Can they eat the kind I would buy for myself.

Re: Yogurt

  • We use yo baby a lot but we also get plain, full fat organic yogurt (any brand). DD loves both.

I don't know what kind of yogurt you usually eat. I eat yoplait fat free, so I wouldn't give that to DD.

  • We do yo baby too, but I'd start off with a plain organic kind and mush up your own fruits to it at first.
  • We started with the plain as well. Now DD gets the horizon tuberz. We freeze them and she eats them like pushup pops. They are also great for teething babies this way.
  • Plain Yo Baby is the same as any other type of organic plain yogurt.

Flavored Yo Baby has significantly less added sugar than most flavored yogurts.

DD likes flavor, so we usually alternate between Yo Baby and the Stoneyfield Farms organic vanilla yogurt in the big tub.

In a pinch, e.g. when we're on the road, I'll give her regular yogurt. I just try to avoid regular yogurt that has artificial sweeteners in it (I almost never eat artificial sweeteners myself, and don't give them to DD) -- most yogurts labeled "light" do have Splenda, Nutrasweet, etc.

  • We buy the YoBaby ones, but she also likes my full-fat Brown Cow Vanilla ones.  I had the Stoneyfield Oikos vanilla Greek yogurt this morning and she sauntered over for a taste, and she ended up eating about half of it.

This is a great idea for my poor teething DS.  Thanks Avery!
