When to TTC again??

So, Dh keeps bringing up when we are getting KU again...or should I say when I am getting KU? LOL...

Anyway...I gained some seriously massive weight with my first pregnancy (pre-e) and want to lose a good deal of it plus more before our second DC. i don't want to end up being a ginormous whale for the rest of my life. As it is now, I can barely take any picture of me and DS below the neck and its generally me surrounded with people, so no one sees the body...

WWYD? Would you lose the weight first, or go for TTC 2? because eventually, you're gonna have to lose that too...I want a second too, but I can't stand the thought of being any bigger than I am now...

Re: When to TTC again??

  • If you want to TTC, this should not be what holds you back.  I know during TTC and pregnancy, I ate better and took better care of myself than ever, so maybe TTC will help you in your goal of getting healthier.  Good luck!

  • could you maintain a restrictive diet so as not to gain so much weight? ?i mean one that is approved by your doctor? ?also one that would possibly prevent pre-e....

I think JARbaby did something similar when she was preg with #2. ?You may want to page or PM her.?

  • I refuse to even consider TTTC again til I am back down to my pre-baby/pre-wedding/dating weight.  That and the kid has to be potty trained.

Honestly while yes it is a family decision, it is your body and you are the one making all the sacrifices.  So ultimately your DH should respect your POV.

  • I'm kind of in the same boat, but not as much of a push from DH.  I also don't even want to consider TTC until I lose all the baby weight and then some (I was a good 20 pounds heavier than I would have liked and at my highest weight ever when I got pg).  It all depends on your level of comfort in this respect.  Sometimes I tell myself that I will just not gain as much or work on losing it afterwards, but I know that is probably not a reality.
  • lose it first. you will thank yourself later.
  • I could have written this post. I gained 95 pounds with DD and I REALLY want to loose it all (now I am at about half way down) before getting pg again, but I think that I am just going to TTC now anyway.

It took us a while to get pg the first time and I plan on continuing my work-out regimine this time (revised for being pg of course) and talking to my OB about eating healthier so as not to gain as much weight.

This is a tough decision that I wrestled with for a while. Good luck to you in whatever you choose.

  • For me I worked out until my 40 week appointment doing an hour cardio class twice a week and elliptical 1-2 times a week as well, so I know working out won't cut it for me.  Plus I don't know if I'll be able to keep up that schedule with a baby in the house and being pregnant.
