At my wit's end

Just in the past week, the girls have started getting fussier and are awake more than they used to be. ?I am having to triage all the crying. ?I only have two hands. ?They're crying in stereo now whereas it used to mostly just be one baby crying at a time. ?I have resorted to putting one baby in a bjorn even though they're not eight pounds yet, and that still isn't getting me much relief. ?I can't get anything done and have no downtime.

Does it get better soon? ?When? ?And does it get worse before it gets better? ??

  • I'm so sorry. ?I know it is SO hard in the beginning when you have to triage the crying and listen to it so often. ?We had one with colic which made things even worse. ?I would say that it got slightly better at 3 months and definitely much better at 6 months. ?If you havent watched it yet, I highly recommend watching the Happiest baby on the block dvd. ?The techniques in there were the only thing that really helped in the beginning. ?Hang in there and try and get any help that you can. ?Hugs!

  • It really is hard! I think your babies are probably awake more now since they're closer to their due date, so it's normal that they'll be awake more (and consequently, fussy more). Fussiness peaks at 6 weeks after the due date for most babies so you do have some time most likely. I agree with watching Happiest Baby on the Block, using the Bjorn when you have to and whatever works--swings, bouncy seats, etc. Mylicon or gripe water if gassiness is contributing to the fussiness. Make sure they don't have reflux or anything that could also be contributing (I wish we'd figured that out with ours earlier!). You're definitely in survival mode at this point; for me it got somewhat better at 8 weeks (6 weeks adjusted) and much better by 4 months.

My girls used to have screaming matches in stereo....there are days where I would just join in on the crying because I couldnt take it. I would try anything to calm them...swings, bouncy seats, etc. It definitely got better around 3 months. They still have their cranky days, but I think I've also learned to ignore some of the crying as they got older (they do it more for attention now).
