Baby Names

Middle Name for Hudson?

DH and I agree that our baby boy (due in August) will have the first name Hudson. We are having trouble finding  a middle name we both like, so your help is appreciated.

Options:

Hudson James: DH, his dad, his Grandpa, and his Grandpa's dad all had middle name James. i am fine with this, DH isn't sure!

Hudson Rence: DH's grandpa is named Clarence.  This came up as an option to honor him. Thoughts?

Hudson James Rence: Is two middle names a bad idea?

Hudson ___________: I told you we were having trouble! Please share some names you think would go well with Hudson. Last name starts with a C and is a common brand of soup :)

Thanks!

Re: Middle Name for Hudson?

  • Hudson James.  Rence is ridiculous in my opinion; if you want to use your DH's Grandpa's name just use Clarence!

  • James. I think a one syllable, common middle name would go with Hudson. I don't care for Rence but the thought is nice.

    hudson james for sure!

rence doesn't sound right.  i agree with PP, if you want to honor your family member, just use clarence - but james sounds better :)

Ditto.  And I think Hudson James sounds nice.

  • Hudson James.

    Rence sounds ridiculous.

  • I like Hudson James.  I agree with PP that Rence just doesn't sound quite right, but if you wanted to honor him use Clarence or what was is middle name?

This. Also Rence sounds like "Rents", or like you shortening parents to 'rents.

Just from the title of your post my choices were James and Thomas, and James already in the running gets my vote! :)
  • Before I even opened this thread, I thought of the mn James.  I'd definitely go with that.

I am very disappointed no one threw Hawk out there.

My DS is Hudson, DH is still disappointed I wouldn't go for the mn Hawk. We settled on Ian.

    Yep. I agree.

  • I like the idea of James.  I don't care for Rence but I do know people who have used to middle names to honor two family members.  My friend did her brother's first name and her FIL's first name as her son's middle names.
