Ferber question

Have any of you done Ferber for night wakings but not for bedtime?  Does it work or do you really need to do it for both at the same time in order for it to work well?

We've never had a problem with DS going down at night...just the wakings.  We've done it before, relapsed and now working on it again.  Last night went great (night 1) and tonight's going well!  I'm not sure about your second question, but I would imagine so.  Good luck!

We didn't have a problem with bedtime, only nighttime wakings.  I'm SO glad we did it.  But, you should really do it all at once.  We started with bedtime because the pedi suggested that I not nurse him to sleep.  After we got that changed, he started waking up a ton at night, so we did the over night wakings a few weeks ago.  He STTN now and is so much happier throughout the day!

At first we didn't have a problem putting DS down for bed but we did have a major problem with night wakings. We started doing Ferber just for those but soon after putting him down for bed became a problem as well. We just started doing Ferber for both putting him down and night wakings. So far, so good. He usually cries for under 5 minutes now and he's a pro at putting himself back to sleep in the middle of the night!??

We didn't have any problems with bedtime, only night wakings.  BUT the reason we had no problems at night but with night wakings was because I nursed her to sleep, slipped her in her crib asleep, and when she woke up in the middle of the night, she expected the same scenario (nursing, rocking, and being held) to get back to sleep.  Hence, for it to work we had to put her to bed awake which caused a bit of fussing the first two nights but fixed the night wakings in 2 nights.  Does that make sense?  I know those sentences are horrible and run on.
