2nd engorgement?

Has anyone ever had a "2nd engorgement"?  One of my breasts (the one he usually feeds from) is very full and "hard" like it was during the engorgement phase.  Is this normal?

  • Possible, but you could also have a clogged duct(s). If you can, you might try pumping that side.

  • Engorgement isn't just a one time thing. It just means your breasts are over full with milk. It happens as long as your supply is not yet regulated, and even after if you go too long between nursing sessions. Eventually it will stop, but in the meantime you can try to get your LO to nurse if they are hungry or you can pump just enough to relieve discomfort. You don't want to pump to empty because that will signal your body to make more milk, but just enough to relieve the engorgement.
