Nurseries and Baby Gear

What are you putting on nursery walls?

Are you using decals? Painting something? Buying paintings? How did you decide what design to use? ?What are you using

We are painting the nursery a green (bright spring) and creamy orange (with just a hint of color) and our bedding is leap froggie by kids line and I am not sure what else to do with the walls. I need help with something for the walls, I don't really like Baby artwork, but not sure what else to do... any suggestions??

Re: What are you putting on nursery walls?

  • I am still undecided as far as the walls.  I know I'm making some swatch portraits.  (Google to see, it's just fabric in an embroidery hoop, they work for the vintage look we're going for.)  I also plan on doing canvases but I don't know what I'm putting on them yet.  Other than that, wall decor always stumps me.

You could do shelves or wall hooks, or both.  Canvases are popular and wall decals are cute too.  There are tons of options as far as that.  You could do a quote as well if you wanted.  There are tons of ideas, it's just making the choice.  LOL.

  • I'm going to frame some wallpaper prints for DIY art and I will also be adding painted wooden letters on the wall somewhere.

I bought some great prints on Etsy and framed them in white Ikea frames.

Lots of nonbabish but still baby friendly prints.

We did animals that are native to our city.

  • We'll be using a quilt/wall hanging on one wall (made by my mom).  I'm hoping to hang some large portraits on one wall and small detail shots (toes, hands, etc.) on a small wall with the closet.  Behind the crib, we'll paint overlapping squares (I think) and his name.  We still have to clean it out, then paint.  My explanations don't make a lot of sense, sorry!

In DS1's room, I painted a border at the top with different size circles in black, white, lime green.  He has a quilt/wall hanging on one wall and his name (wooden letters) above his bed.  Now that the crib is being moved, I'm hanging matted portraits in his room.

  • Still my work in progress.  I've added/finished some things and still have a quilt to hang and am not yet done with the border around the ceiling which will be different sized circles and circles inside each other along with ABC's.

  • DH and I are both photography junkies, so we are framing some of our favorite wildflower shots for one wall.  We are doing bookshelves and a mirror on the other wall, and a curio cabinet on the third.  The other wall is so far blank . . . we are still brain storming on that one.

We are actually making all the wall decor.

DH took some pictures of flowers and I framed them.  Here is one example.

I made some name letters to put over the curtains.

Next I am going to make some square wall boxes and paint them black and green.  I plan to fill the boxes with pictures and other little details that go with the rest of the room.

There is a shop on Etsy that is my favorite called Love Mae Store. They actually have fabric decals. These fabric decals are perfect for children, as they are removable and completely reusable. They can be scrunched into a ball and will easily un-scrunch and re-apply to your wall, many times over.

I also have a blog called Kenziepoo (www.kenziepoo.blogspot.com), which is all about baby. It has many ideas for your Nursery!!

  • We have the wall next to the window which has the dresser agains it. For that wall I think we'll go with a collage of picture frames. Then we have the wall where the crib goes. For that I think I'll hang wall letters. Finally there's the wall where the changing table goes and above I want to hang a white shelf with pegs with baby clothes hanging. Then I can put stuffed animals and frames on the shelf. I think that will look cute. Deciding what to put on the walls has been the hardest part for me so far, which is interesting.
