Do you take DC to daycare on your days off?

I get 6 weeks vacation. Some of those days . . . OK let's be honest . . . most of those days are days when I take them to daycare to have alone time with myself. Usually I spend 70% of the day doing things like grocery shopping, cleaning, running errands, and getting their dinner prepared for that night.

Just wondering if anyone else does this.

Re: Do you take DC to daycare on your days off?

  • most of the time when i take a day off it's b/c DS is sick, or b/c we're doing something special as a family (vacation, etc)... but yes, there have been times I've taken a day or more off and brought DS to daycare. He LOVES it there- and would rather be there than at home all day with me and DH while we try to get things done around the house.

I'm on maternity leave now and he still goes full time to daycare - i need this time alone with the babies, and he needs the routine and fun of school.

  • 98% of the time when I take a day off for no reason, DD is in daycare!
  • Some times I do. I use those days to go to doctor's appointments, get my hair cut, chores around the house, ect... stuff that's hard to get done with the boys.
  • I am a teacher and off for the summer. DD has to go one day a week to hold her spot for the fall, so I use the day to run errands without her "help."

  • there have been several days she has gone to daycare while I have been busy running errands, stuff around the house, even a movie with DH!
  • We take dd to day care on days off so we can run errands, clean the house, get massages or so I can have a pedi.
  • My DH and i do this.  DH has 1 week off every 3 weeks and while he's home to watch DS, my parents still come and get him 2 days that week.

And in a couple weeks, I have a day off to get ready for vacation - absolutely DS will still be w/ our nanny!  I need to pack and get stuff done, which I can't get all that much done if he were w/ me.

  • It's pretty rare that I get a day off when the kids school isn't also closed.  Every once in awhile I take a day off before a holiday so that I can prepare (b/c we host) and I send them to school.  I think it's better for them to be at school and happy than be yelled at all day by me b/c they're underfoot.  I usually try to send them a little late and pick them up early on those days, if I can.
  • I don't really get days off that DD isn't in daycare.  If I'm home from work, I'm either sick or she's sick or daycare is closed.
  • If I have a day off for no reason I still drop DS off, just for the morning. So I spilt my day off, me time in the morning then the afternoon with DS.

  • If I am going to the doctor or something, or need to run some much needed errands, I will take them to daycare/preschool. But not all day, usually just half day as neither one naps well or at all at daycare/preschool and I bring them home to sleep. Typically when I take off though, it is for family trips, or dc's numerous appointments or if they are sick.
  • My vacation days are usually dedicated to an actual vacation or for some reason I need one or both of my kids out. However, if I take a vacation day, just because, then I certainly leave my kids there. Or say, I get to stop early, I still leave them there until normal time! :-)
  • If i'm off I keep him home with me.

  • So far we take time off for him sick, me sick, or planned vacation. I plan  to take a week off around christmas this year and plan to leave DS at day care.

Ditto this!  The rare time I can take a "me day" I make it a ME day!  Even still, I usually do things that are difficult to do with DS, like cook, clean, run errands, etc. etc.  If I can sneak in a nap or a tv show, it's been a good day.

Beside we pay for FT so if the money is already spent, he should be there playing having a good time!

This.  I can get plenty done when she naps or is in bed for the night.  But I have a fabu DH.
