Where are you shopping for DCs clothes?
Isabella starts pre-K in September and they have a strick dress code (no tank/spagetti tops, no short skirts, no super short shorts, all shirts and dress sleeves have to cover the shoulder) so I'm not sure where I should be looking.
I love a lot of Gaps stuff but most of the shirts and dresses break the rules.
Re: Back to school clothes, pre-K moms...
That seems odd for pre-k. Guess they start early now, huh? Anyway, I'd just go with capri's and tshirts for warmer weather. Dresses may end up being hard to find. I found some longer length skirts at Target recently (like hit's mid-knee).
Can she wear a tank dress with a cardigan?
I think I'd be investing in some cute cardigans to layer on top of the sleeveless things you own/want. Really though, I think most of my dd's clothes would be ok for that dress code. I plan to hit the outlet this year for school shopping...gap/carters/osh kosh/gymobree and then maybe buy a few nicer pieces at crewcuts.
my oldest starts pre k and well he's a boy. i'll shop at all the usual places. i love your screen name and love the books too. the boys "read" them to me now.
I would assume so -- it doesn't say she can't. I just worry that at 3.5 y/o she would be tempted to take it off during the course of the day.
I think I will probably stick with capris and tees like you suggested.
These rules are taking all of the fun out of school shopping, lol.
And the dress code is for the whole school from the Pre-K3 class up to the kds in 6th grade.. I guess they don't want to make exceptions for the little kids.
Although I want my DD to look super cute, I teach (at the same school, and have advice from the pre-K teachers.) They do so much craft stuff, their clothes will be pretty wrecked. I have been picking up cute things from Wal-Mart, Target, JC Penney, as well as a few nicer pieces from the outlet mall or old navy. I definitely can't always walk into walmart or target and see stuff I like for her, or find a lot at once, but I go to wal mart weekly for supplies and check things out. I cannot stand that sometimes most of what they have are character things or inappropriate things (stuff written on the bottom, or revealing clothes.)
We have the same dress code for all of our students Prek-12, but it is not enforced pre-K-2. I pretty much don't dress her in sleeveless shirts because of sunburn risk, or super short things because for P.E. and playground most of the girls put on shorts underneath.
