I need to go through DD's clothes especially. What do you do? How often do you do it?
Donate? Give to another family? ebay? Garage sale? Consignment? keep for all eternity?
I am leaning toward just donating. The majority of her clothes were not that expensive, and we don't have anyone to hand them down to. With DS, it's easy, because we have people to hand down everything to (and they get rid of what they didn't want).
Re: What do you do with outgrown clothes?
I ebay almost everything, but I spend a lot on his clothes and completely OCD about the laundry.
I would think ebay is not worth it if I didn't make the money I do on it, and I think it's hard unless you sell pretty $$ that are in really good condition.
I donate everything that is not sellable.
My family has moved 4 times (including 3 international moves) since my first DS was born 3 years ago. I am therefore the master of the clean out. I have two boys so I keep the oldest ones clothes for DS2. As soon as I notice something is tight I put it in a bin that I keep in each of their closets for that purpose. I change the bin for DS1 with the season and size. So for example I have a summer size 2 bin and a winter size 2 bin. When things start getting tight on the little one I put them in a bin for donation. I drop that off as soon as its full or when we have enough other stuff to go. I'm too lazy to sell them and I feel like after they've been through 2 kids I've gotten value out of them (especially since I buy nice brands but ALWAYS on sale).

My DD is 6 and we give her old clothes to my friend's daughter who is 5 and also my daughter's BFF. They usually fit her right as my DD is growing out of them.
