I
purchased a Zolowear ring sling yesterday cause I want to hold on my hip. I tried it last night and man! It's
rough on my shoulder. If you can wear a baby up to 40lbs, by 17lb boy
should be ok, right? I don't feel like it's fitting right. I measured
from shoulder to hip diagonally and it seems way smaller than even an
XS, but I got a Small. So, it shouldn't feel so tight. I watched the
videos and I'm still not sure. You think I should buy a pouch and see
if that feels better? I can return the ring sling if it doesn't work.
The ring seems in the right place, but the cloth part that goes over
the shoulder and to the back is all up in my neck. Any suggestions? I had a moby, loved it when DS was a newborn, but not for going out in, it's soooo long and such hot material. Plus I can't get the hip carry down.
Re: Baby wearing re: Zolowear
If the ring is in the right place (like where you'd put your hand if you were saying the Pledge of Allegiance) and the shoulder part is fitting around the cap of your shoulder you should be in good shape as long as you're fanning the fabric that wraps around your back so that it covers your back. I'm explaining this horribly but the fabric shouldn't be bunched up or anywhere near your neck.
Does this work?

Like BT said, the RS should be cupping your shoulder and fanned out over your back. If it's on properly it won't be on your neck at all, but it might restrict your movement a little on the arm/shoulder it's cupped over.
If you can't get it with a RS, a pouch will probably be even more difficult for you because it's not going to be as adjustable.
