We are the only couple out of our group of friends that has a kid. Twice this week they have asked us to go out. No big deal. Except they ask us like 2 hours before and expect us to get a sitter. The only people that we let keep Max right now are our parents and they live an hour away. We need a little bit more notice than 2 hours. So frustrating. Today my BF emailed me at 2 and asked if I could get a sitter for tonight so we could go to the movies with them at 7. Ugh. Vent/whining post over.
Re: our friends just don't get it
That's rough. Maybe they do get it, but dont want you to feel like they never ask you to hang out anymore so they invite you even if they know you probably wont be able to go.
I personally usually make plans last minute so I get other people who do the same...especially childless peeps. If I were you I'd do the planning...if you feel like going out set up the sitter in advance then put the word out to your friends that you and your DH have a night free.
Liam is 5!
i understand what you're saying but ... be thankful they're still including you. maybe until you find that trustworthy, nearby sitter - you do the planning for a little while. just so you're still meeting up from time to time.
