Stressed to the max!

I am 25 weeks pregnant and our little man is gonna be here before I know it and I still haven't figured out what to do about child care yet.

My husband has always worked in Construction an was laid off months ago.  With the economy the way it is, it's been really hard for him to find a steady job - doing anything.  He does side jobs here and there to bring in money but I am the breadwinner and I pay most of everything (which is fine with me).

We live a pretty nice lifestyle (even though money is super tight) and are kind of thinking of just having DH stay home with baby after I go back to work (after 10 weeks).  I just know that we will be living paycheck to paycheck and barely making it with him staying home.

I guess my question is - Is anyone else in this situation?

I love the idea of DH being home with baby instead of a stranger but then again I love the idea of having two incomes too.  Does anyone have any suggestions for making extra income since DH is unemployed?  I just don't know how we're going to make it

I know someone who's DH couldn't find full-time work after getting his MBA , and he's been basically staying part-time with the baby and bringing the baby to his parents' part time. He got into real estate and so he makes some money that way. Could your DH do handyman work or work for a small contractor? Thing is you will still need some childcare if he does work, and if the work is sporadic he's going to need someone who can be super flexible, which is extremely hard to find unless you have family to rely on.
