Baby Names

Middle Name= Eugene

So it's a tradition in DHs family that the first born son's middle name be Eugene.  This has been carried on for many generations, it is DHs middle name, and so I would like to respect their tradition and use it if we have a boy.  However, I can not seem to think of any first names that sound good with Eugene.  Jake has been one of our favorite names, but not sure about Jake Eugene?  Any suggestions on first names that would sound good with Eugene?

I think it will need to be 2 syallbles, so maybe Jacob Eugene?

  • Jake Eugene doesn't flow very well, but I don't think Jacob Eugene is bad at all.  Obviously, you could still call him Jake, but Jacob would give him flexibility if he ever felt he'd "outgrown" the nn, as well as going better with your mn tradition.

I would definitely not choose a first name based on how it sounds with Eugene. ?Middle names are never used. ?It would be a lot more important to me that I love his first name than that his first name flows well with Eugene.
  • I like James Euguene or William Eugene.

ditto!  I have a friend that just named her son Eugene James.

  • What about Jacob and call him Jake?

You could do Lucas Eugene, the character from One Tree Hill =)

  • I think a 3 syllable first name is in order if you want good flow. However, pp has a point that it's more important you love the first name than have it go with Eugene no matter what.

.........and I'm drawing a blank for a 3syllable boy name..........:(

  • I like the previous suggestion of Lucas Eugene (One Tree Hill, one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows :)

My dad's name is Paul Eugene and I think that sounds good.  Haven't heard the name Paul used for a baby for a looong time so it'd certainly be unique :)
