Walleye

Hello all...I am wondering about eating some walleye (type of fish for those who have never heard of it)  My concern is that it has some mercury in it, but have heard it is ok in small amounts.  The reason I ask is my DH and I are going to the lake this weekend and that may be one of the meals and I really enjoy it.  Any advice on if I can have it one time this summer?

Thanks:)

Re: Walleye

  • All fish have some level of mercury.  As I understand it, there are some fish you should avoid (however, i didn't see that fish on the list).  You are allowed 6 oz a week of medium level mercury fish, and 12 oz of low mercury fish.  I would maybe google that fish to see how it rates???  I personally think it would be ok to eat it just once, but I'm not a doctor.

  • I had walleye for dinner the other night...it was delicious. ?I'd say go ahead and eat it for a meal...I wouldn't over indulge though :)
