what are the rules for minors going to rated R movies

My neice is coming up for the weekend and Britt wants to take her to the movies....she's only 16 and Britt is 18.....Can she get in to see a rated R movie with Britt being 18?

    Parent or guardian are the rules, but I can almost guarantee the person selling tickets is 16 and doesn't give a crap who they let in.

    I think, don't quote me, that if there's a minor the accompanying adult has to be 21 or the parent. Not 100% sure in any case, some places don't even bother to enforce the 18yo rule at movies. However, I'll be lame enough to admit that DH and I have been carded to see an R rated movie.
