What is the recommendation for vaccinations in preemies? Do they typically recommend going by gestational age (birth date) or adjusted age (due date)? Preemie moms...what have you done? Have you done anything differently?
Mine were only a month early -- so BARELY preemies.
We follow Dr. Bob's delayed schedule (The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears) and they pretty much get 2 shots every month beginning with month 2 (we didn't even do HepB when they were born). Mine are big enough that we follow their actual age but if they were born any earlier we would have followed their adjusted age.
My girls were 6 weeks early, but on the smaller side. They got their shots at adjusted age and actually they didnt get anything over the winter but RSV and flu. Our dr. felt those were the most important.
Mommy to twin girls, Ashlyn & Fiona, born at 34 weeks due to vasa previa.
We did their shots based on their actual age. It was scary for awhile, because there was a deadly (children DIED) measles outbreak in our area when they were newborns - and we decided then and there to not screw around with delaying vaxs.
