I never use it because I don't have the kind of blood they like,
apparently. DH and I can stand next to eachother for hours and he
will be covered in bites while I get maybe one. Avery seems to have
inherited his blood - the poor kid was outside yesterday afternoon in
her kiddie pool and now has 6-8 bites on her legs and one on her back.
The boys and I have none. I am keeping hydrocortisone on them since
she won't let me near her with Afterbite. I hate the idea of putting
bugspray on little ones - it seems toxic and just a bad idea since they
inevitably end up with it in their mouths, or it might rinse off in the
pool (which Adam likes to drink from.) Thoughts?

Re: Do you put bugspray on your kids?
I have to. She is just like me, a human pincushion. And the bites get huge.
Right now, even with bug spary, we both look like we have been on Survivor. The mosquitoes are terrible here because we had so much rain.
Oh, yeah, and I spray their clothes. I also spray my shirt when I go running in the am and it seems to keep bugs away. I put a wrist band around my ponytail.
I came back to tell you that white vinegar takes the sting and itch right out of bites, right away. It comes back after about 2 hours for me, but I can swipe another cotton ball of vinegar.
Burt's Bees makes a natural insect repellent. I couldn't find any locally, so I am still waiting for my order to try it.

We use the OFF Family Skintastic.
Works great and the smell doesn't make me retch.
