How does your DC behave differently at daycare?

I find it so funny when I pick him up and he is chillin in a swing or in a bumpo chair. He FREAKS when I try to use those things at home!

  • he apparently eats all his veggies at daycare.  He throws them on the floor at home.

  • He naps on a mat.  I have no idea how that happens since he's always in the crib at home and I have a hard time believing he'd just stay put on a mat.

Honestly, I would love to be able to watch him for a day to see what they do and what he's like there.

  • she falls asleep on her own at daycare.  we're still working on that at home.

  • He sleeps on a cot and he doesn't use a pacifier.

  • I'm pretty sure she actually listens to instructions the first time at daycare.  I don't know if she throws all out screaming crying fits there when she doesn't get her way.  I'll have to ask, but my guess is no.

  • I'll second the cot thing. I don't know how she does it there because at home she is in the crib...and ALL OVER IT.

Also, at home she hits and bites us, but the teacher told us the other day that she's the most well behaved kid and never hits or bites. We very, very strongly discourage her from doing it at home, so I'm hoping she knows it's wrong and is just pushing her limits with us.

According to the daycare teachers, he is very well behaved there.  I often wonder if we are talking about the same child.  From the minute we get home each night, all hell breaks loose and the temper tandrums start, etc.  I think it is classic what they say that kids act out the most at home.  I guess if he has to do it anywhere, it is best at home.

Agreed!!  DD doesn't use her paci at daycare, sleeps without much help from teachers.

She threw a fit the other day when i came to daycare and I didn't pick her up right away.  Her teacher looked at her and said "who is that? that is not the Olivia I know!"  When I told her we get it *all the time*  she looked incredulous.

  • My DD can sleep there without a pacifier but god forbid she didn't have one for her weekend naps or bedtime.

Absolutely!!  She's not nearly as picky an eater at daycare. But she also tends to bring home aggressive behavior she sees at daycare to test out at home.  Fun times.  Fortunately, she's definitely received the message that that doesn't fly at home.

  • Wow. I really wish I could 'watch' him at daycare without him knowing. So cute to see them interact with other kids. They need to have a daycare-cam so I can keep an eye while at work. Although I would get nothing done. I am so surprised when I hear he slept on a mat. That has to be the cutest thing. All those kids just cashed out! haha!
