Anyone have insight on Lyme's Disease?

Owen has a *bug bite* that he says hurts him, it's on his knee. This morning he got up to tell me about the red line near his bite. It it not a complete circle around the bite but it is a semi cirle.

Does anyone know how the circle starts? Did I catch it really early? I have a call into the Dr's but I hate waiting and I am trying to refrain my googling skills.

Oh and Morning!

  • I would get it checked out if you're really worried. DH has had it TWICE this year already-- the ticks are unreal.

It can take up to 2 weeks for the ring to appear. DHs were complete raised, red rings around the bites. One was near his groin, and the other was on his side.

He was on doxicycline for 3 weeks each time.

  • I would take him to the doctor right away. Even if it isn't Lyme Disease, it may be infected. My sister's ex had a very irritated tick bite that wasn't healing and the doctor said that it was Lyme Disease. Fortunately they caught it before he developed symptoms, but he was on meds for a long time.

  • I work for a Vet and we see alot of Tick Bites. What you described could be the start of the circle. They are going to have you take Owen for a blood test to check to see if he test positive. I would suggest that you ask for Owen to be put on Doxycycline just in case. We have had people get tested and it comes back negative, but 6 months later test positive and have problems. Doxy is a mild antibiotic and he should be on it for at least 21 days. Oh and obviously I see the tick bites on the owners as well, I wasn't comparing Owen to a Golden Retriver.
