Is your DC center really cold?

I've been sending DD in summer clothes (onesie outfits, summer dresses w/ bloomers), but it seems like the teachers are usually in Jeans and it does feel kind of cold in there.  My mom commented on the same thing and said it could be to help keep germs down, same way they keep hospitals kind of cold.

Anyway, do you dress LO a little warmer for daycare?

  • I don't dress him warmer but I always leave a set of warm clothes there (sweater/sweat shirt & jeans).  Lukily DS is getting to the point that he can say if he's cold- I'm sure not ready to go through the baby stuff again!

  • Our DC center is comfortable. I think the temp is somewhere around 71-72 degrees.
  • Our center is cool.  I saw the thermostat the other day and itwas set at 70.  I know the kids go out alot to play and I'm sure it feels nice to have it cool.  Plus, if I was a staff person, I'd be swetaing chasing after wee ones.  But I don't dress DS any warmer.  When I see that the outside temp will be cooler, I do.
  • ask her teachers what they think.  i started sending dd in cute little summer onesies and the dresses with bloomers and they told me they thought she was too cold, so now i'm dressing her warmer.
  • On a typical day no, they do a great job of adjusting the a/c or heat and the rooms all have doors that lead out to the playground area so they sometimes have those open as well.  I always put a sweatshirt in my girls bags just in case, the rooms tend to be cooler in the mornings since we get there so early but are fine once the building gets more crowded.
