probably a really stupid question (nbr)

and possibly tmi.  could an infected belly piercing cause me to be sick?  i feel a little better now but last night/this morning i though i was going to die.  i was nauseous, shaky and blackaing out...dh was almost to the point of taking me to the er but we decided that i was probably dehydrated so he got me water and i just did my best to get some sleep.  well i just now got home and when i took my shirt off i noticed my belly button was hurting really bad.  i decided to take a look and it was bleeding and oozing.  i took the ring out and it looks really bad.  its dark purple (like a really bad bruise) and it wont stop bleeding.  i put peroxide on it but should i do anything else?  should i go to the dr?  i feel so dumb but i've never had this happen!

    Could. If you have an infection your body can make you have symptoms like that. You may need to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic- definitely a good idea to go to the doctor if you're having episodes of blacking out. hopefully you feel better soon!

    Yes, and I would call the doctor. Also, take your temp to see if you have a fever. I'm no doctor, but if it's a bacterial infection, and the wound is bleeding, I'm pretty sure the bacteria can easily get into your bloodstream. 

    It could be that you just need to keep the area clean and disinfected for a while and it will heal itself, but you might need antibiotics, especially given that you're having pretty bad symptoms.
