PSA: Got a good tip to find a new OB today

Most of you know I'm moving. I went in for my annual exam today and told my OB that I was pregnant but we were moving again.

She advised me to figure out what hospital I'd like to deliver at, and then call the Labor and Delivery department around 8 or 9 at night and ask for recommendations from the nurses. She said they shouldn't be too busy around that time and they would have a good idea of which doctors were recommendation-worthy.

I thought that was a really good tip, so I just thought I'd pass it on!

Re: PSA: Got a good tip to find a new OB today

  • that is GREAT advice- My Labor nurse with wyatt was REALLY complimentary of my ob- she wouldn't stop talking about how great she was, and that she was glad she'd get to work with her that day, and I was lucky to be in her care....

they are polar opposites, too- so I found it interesting that they both were so fond of one another. The nurse was SUPER right wing, and kept making "big gov't" comments while I was in labor ( the innaugural stuff was on tv.) Which I did NOT appreciate...And my doctor was singing the praises of Obama and it was just odd.

I think that is some of the BEST advice I have ever heard as far as any of this business goes- you should post it all over!

  • Can they recommend a particular doctor? I asked a friend of mine who is a OB nurse who she would recommend and she said she was only telling me as a friend not as a nurse. She told me that it was a doctor that she would use if she were pg, but as a nurse she was completely impartial. Weird. Maybe there was a different reason that she couldn't tell me.

I don't know if they can or not. My OB seemed to think they could, but maybe she doesn't know. IDK.

  • Sorry, I re-read my post and I sounded really negative. That is a great tip if it works! I was just speaking form my personal experiences. I hope that it works out for you.

  • No worries, Kat! I guess if they can't tell me I'll just be calling and pestering them. :)

Maybe I should come in with a plate of cookies or something and butter them up first.

  • do you have any idea where you'd like to deliver? You'll have lots of good options being so close to Boston. :)
