Size Poll

What size did your child wear at 12 months?

How much did they weigh at 1 year?

How much did they weigh at birth?

(trying to take advantage of gymbucks for next summer, but Harper is still in the 6lb range at 3-4 weeks...so wondering if 12-18mos will be too big for her next summer?)   Anyone know how their sizes run?

Re: Size Poll

  • 1. CONGRATULATIONS!! She is a doll!

    2. My kid is a chunky monkey. At 12 months he was going from 12-18 to 18-24. He wore a 2T shirt to his party and it wasn't *that* big on him. ?He weighed 26 lbs. ?He was 8.11 at birth.?

  • Yes, she IS a doll. ?I'm totally missing out on the big ol' bows! ?You think Langston would mind if I put some bows on him?

?The only question I can answer is #3. ?He was 7lb 10oz.

    ?What are gymbucks??

    ?What are gymbucks??

*GASP* Only the best way to get super cute clothes super cheap from Gymboree :) If you spend a certain amount in their store during a certain time they give you them in $25 increments to be used on future purchases at another specific time. It's the only time I ever get stuff from Gymboree, and then I make out like a bandit.?

  • I am going to have to agree with the pp and say your little girl is so beautiful!

At 12 mo DD wore/wears 6-12 month stuff from gymboree, 9 month stuff in other brands.

At one year she was 19 lb 6 oz and at birth she was 8lb 6 oz. I have a couple of outfits I bought on sale last summer that I though she would wear in 12-18 mo size, but they are too big for her.

Hmmm...I guess I should stick with the 6-12 months since Harper was 5lb 3oz at birth and still is in the "below 5% percentile".  I should see what their exchange/return policy is...if she surprises me and grows into a chunky monkey.

  • DS was 8lbs 6oz at birth and at 1 yr he was 23lbs and wears 12 - 18 mos.
  • Jamie - you are missing out girl! I have 2 of the $25 bucks...if I only use 1, you can have my extra one.
  • And thank you...we think she's a doll, too!  Definitely as small as one!
  • Jess, I think gymboree runs larger than other brands. I bet you would be okay in 6-12 unless it looks to run small, then go up a size. Macie can still wear their 2t stuff and she's 2 1/2 and big for her age.
  • Harper is such cutie! Sophia was 5lbs 10 oz at birth and 5 lbs when she came home from the hospital. At 12 months she was 21.6 lbs and was wearing 12 - 18 months and now at 15 months still is. Some 18 - 24 months fit her but definitely not Gymboree's stuff, I personally find their stuff to run a bit big.

  • Well, I can't answer all of the questions, but DS was born at 7lbs 12 oz, and he weighs somewhere between 17-20# now. He is long and skinny. 90th for height, 50th for weight. So what fits his length falls off his tiny butt! He is in 9-12 month clothing right now and has been for the past 2 months.

  • I would just buy their 6-12 month stuff. DS was 8 lbs 10 oz at birth. At his 9 month appointment he was 18 lbs 4 oz and is still wearing Gymboree 6-12 months with plenty of growing room. My mom actually bought him an outfit and got the wrong size shorts. She bought gymboree 3-6 months and he still fit into them at a little over 10 months. I wouldn't have bought that size but he could wear them comfortably.
  • Gosh, Colten must be huge.... he was 8 lbs exactly when he was born and at his 1 year he was 25 lbs. Caleb was also a big boy I just can't remember his exact weight. He wears 18 month clothes and they fit perfect.
  • every baby is different. ? My dd was 5 lbs 14oz at birth and 17lbs at 1 year and wearing 6-9 month clothes

my ds was 6 lbs 6ozs when he was born and 20 lbs at 1 year and wearing clothes true to size. ?

?It sounds like your dd is on the smaller side so if I were to guess I would go true to size?

  • She is a doll!!!!

I have a big child... a really big child

    He was 8lbs at birth.

At 12 months he was 29lbs he was going between 18-24 mo and 2T

He is 14 months now and he is fully in 2T and some of those things are snug on him..I am done buying him 2T for a while until I can see how he is going to be for the next few months.

    Your DD really is precious!!

Clothing size is such a tough call.

DD was in 6-12 and 12-18 at one year depending on the brand.

She weighed in at a whopping 24lbs at her 1yr.

She was 7lbs 2oz at birth, but lost a pound in the first week and spent the first month in preemie clothes. DD was a peanut for the first 3 months or so and is now in the 75th percentile for height and weight.

I'd buy the 6-12 month stuff because of the time of year she was born. If she gets big early, say at 9 months, she can still wear 12mo summer clothes. If she is tiny, she'll need summer clothes at least through September. You have a pretty good window there.
