Pumped amount variances...

So, I pump into the 4oz bottles that came with my Lansinoh pump.  If I pump 4oz total (from the measurements on the bottle), I write 4oz on the storage bag.  Then I might pump 3oz the next time.  Well, if I put those into a Playtex drop-in, it measures around 6.25 maybe 6.5 ounces, not 7.  Which measurement is correct?  I'm betting the drop-ins aren't accurate.  Do you have this problem?  Do you just use the measurement from the pump bottle?

Re: Pumped amount variances...

  • I didn't use drop ins but I went by the measurements from the pump bottles.

I see that you are dairy & soy free.  I was dairy free for a few months - I know that it is not easy - awesome job!

  • They are all "approximately" correct. I didn't use either of those brands so I can't help, but had the same problem with my Meldia pump and Born Free bottles.

I go by what the bottles I send to day care read since those are the amounts that she has drunk that get written on her sheets.

  • I always went by the pump bottle amount just because it was easier for me.  The drop-ins can vary a lot depending on how you're holding them, etc.

  • Dropins sometimes have 2 measurements on the bottle - one for the 10 oz liners and one for the 8 oz liners. I typically find the 8 oz measurements to be close to my pump bottle measurements but when I had the 10 oz liners for a while, it was totally different.
