Homestudy Approval Question

How long was it after your final homestudy that you found out if you were approved or not?  Our final Home Visit is tonight...and our social worker and I have been in close contact via email for the past few weeks.  She has never hinted that we wouldn't be...but just the anxiety of potentially not being approved is scary.

Did your social worker tell you at the end of the final visit, or was it weeks until you got the letter in the mail stating you were approved?

TIA!

Re: Homestudy Approval Question

  • We have our "approval meeting" tonight.  Basically this is the time when we get to read over our home study, sign off on it and then start looking into the matching process.  Shortly after this meeting we should get our letter in the mail with the official seal of approval after the director of the agency gives his approval.

  • after our final meeting, it took a week for the social worker to write our home study.  We had our official approval within another week.

  • Our agency & SW let us know it would take them about 4-6 weeks to write up the final home study report. They were right on with their estimate.
  • About a month from the last meeting to we received the signed copy.
  • Its been three months and i'm still waiting.....

But to be fair, the social worker who did our homestudy made it clear by the end of the meeting that we "passed" and we read his very positive report about 3-4 days after the homestudy.  At this point we're just waiting on the state to put thier final stamp of approval on it.

  • About a month here, too.
