world's longest contractions

Still pregnant. DH tells me it's going to be another week at least and I should just shut up and stop thinking it could be starting. He's probably right, but...#*%! these contractions are going to drive me insane.?

Anybody else have FOUR minute contractions on a regular basis? I tried timing for a while last night, and that's about where they stood. Every ten minutes, lasting about 4 minutes long for hours. They aren't the worst thing ever, but they do hurt and they last so long that by the end of each one I'm thinking it's stuck and going to stay there forever. I can walk and talk through them, but can't go from sitting to standing (or vice versa) during b/c everything's so rock hard. I swear this is not in my head. I've made DH confirm this by feeling my belly. It's really obviously contracting and staying there. FOR-E-VER.

Usually it starts with this weird sort of feeling all over from my back to all over my stomach. That's when I grab the iPhone (now addicted to labor mate). Then it gets hard. That's when I push the timer. It does slowly get progressively tighter and hurty and sometimes almost seems to be getting better before it surprises me and starts really cramping. Then it eases up. So maybe each one is really two that are piggybacking? I don't know. Whatever. As long as it's DOING something. All this isn't for nothing, right? Because like I said, it isn't just terrible. I'm not complaining about the pain. I could do this for a week if I need to. I don't WANT to, but I could. I'm whining b/c I want it to be working towards something. Productively. And this poor baby. He/she gives some good kicking near the end of each one. If this is annoying to me, I can't imagine being the one inside there. Sheesh.

Somebody tell me these contractions are probably getting everything super duper ready and I'm going to walk into the hospital almost fully dilated and the baby will just slide right out as soon as the doc gets his gloves on. ?

  • Can you get in the tub?  It's a little early for wine, but if you're cool with it, have a little wine too.  The combo of the tub and some wine can help you to relax and to relieve discomfort.

I am sure that the contractions are doing something.  I would guess that you are probably in some early stage of labor.  Hopefully it's not false labor!  Hang in there!!!

  • Come on, Baby Nark!

I had 3 long contractions within 45 minutes last night that woke me up and kept me up. I had to sit up to get a deep breath. They felt different than my typical Braxton Hicks b/c I was cramped up and hard in the bottom of my uterus, too. This morning I feel fine. Weird.
