We've seen a couple of houses online that seriously are rediculous. ?I've checked out the schools and while southlake was all exemplary schools, keller isd wasn't. ?That is the only concern we have... so tell me about the town. ?Is there any area's of keller we should steer clear of?
Re: Ok, so give me the low down on Keller
I have a friend whose parents are selling their house in Keller. If you would like to see the listing I can PM it to you. Its listed around 425k I believe, with a pool and a good size backyard, 4 or 5 beds 4.4 baths if I remember right. May be more house than your looking for though. Let me know.
I don't know much about Keller except my friend enjoyed growing up there.
Keller is actually known for its schools, which is one of the main reasons we bought there. The school ratings (I think this is right) change every year, and I know that at times Keller has been rated higher than Southlake. I remember that because DH went to Southlake Carrol HS and I was tormenting him with that little tidbit
The other reason we bought there is because it is a good investment. Southlake is basically out of room. Keller is right next to Southlake, so McMansion (and some real ones) construction commenced in Keller. It is really a growing community and I expect to make a lot of $$ on our house once the market comes back. Buying now, you will get a lot more house for your money in Keller.
PP was right about it being something of a pain to get in and out of town. The main roads that I take are 1709 and 170. But, 1709 also runs straight through Southlake and is just as congested there. I have very easy access to 35 and I can get to 114 in about 10-15 minutes.
Both towns are very nice, as is Colleyville. It's a good area no matter where you decide to buy or build. GL!
Ditto! We love the area except for the traffic in and out, but the schools are great and the house prices are pretty reasonable. We would stay in the area but with all our family/friends and DH's job being in the Plano/ Frisco area we are looking to move that way.

Then you should be in good shape! ?Good luck! ?Gigi....maybe she needs your house?!?!?!?
Traffic/location is the only reason we did NOT look at Keller when we bought a house. It's got great access to 35W, but we preferred citites that had quick access to (what I call) the crossroads ... 121, 635, 114 ... I feel like I can equally get to Dallas or Ft. Worth with ease. DH didn't want to have to sit in 114 / Trophy Club traffic either.
It's a shame too, because PPers are right, Keller is a great up and coming city, with a lot to offer. Great schools, great shopping, a a broader range of housing prices. There is no way we could have afforded Southlake/Colleyville ... but Keller we could have swung. Also, Keller was listed as the #7 best suburban area to live in on Yahoo.com the other day
