Trying to Get Pregnant

HSG today...

So, I went in today for my hsg procedure...OUCH!!  I'm good now, but I seriously thought I was going to pass out when he was having me turn from side to side!!!Sad

I hope I never have to do that again...And to make matters worse, he couldn't get it all the way in my ute...so he made the bubble in my wall..Another OUCH!

Anyone else experience extreme pain?  My friend had it done and told me it was a piece of cake..lol

Re: HSG today...

  • I aksed my doctor to compare it to something i have had done before in terms of pain so i could prepare myself. He compared it to having my IUD put in. I would have to say it was a little les painful then that, but they had to do it twice! screw that!

  • I had experience TERRIBLE pain following my HSG (for about 15 mins).

I didn't have to turn or move on the table at all though. just lay there like i would for a pap.

    Was everything clear?

Yeah, my pain was horrible for about 30 minutes I would say after, then faded away.

For some reason he wanted to take xrays at different angles to show my tubes so I'm guessing that's why he had me turn on each side on the table.  I think I lost it when he told me to look at the screen and watch the dye...Ick!  There's just something about looking at your insides!

And yes, thanks for asking.  Everything was clear.  So, it's off to round 2 of Femara next cycle!

  • oh good! Thats great news! GL!!

Do you plan on ever getting an ultrasound while you are pregnant? That's looking at your insides too, you know. It's not like it's a scope up there, just a picture. I thought it was pretty damn cool.

Yeah, your right.  I have had vag u/s lots before due to my pcos and that never bothered me.  I guess it was just a little different because of the pain.  LOL...not really sure

Yeah, you are right!  I've have tons of vag u/s due to my pcos, and that doesn't bother me at all.  I guess it was just a little different due to the pain maybe...

  • I have had two HSGs, and neither hurt past some cramping for a few seconds. Everyone is different I guess. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Thanks, Cat.  That is very reassuring to hear.

Thanks for your response...I'm sure a lot of it had to do with my anxiety before hand..

  • I passed out.  I came to with the doctor prying my knees apart asking me "Is everything OK up there?" It was mortifying.

At least you've gotten it out of the way though!
