Help!! Feeding schedule changes.

Since he was born, DS has wanted a bottle (I'm FFing) every 2-3 hours - the amount of formula has changed, obviously, but the timing was always the same.  We recently upped his formula to 5oz at each feeding, but for the first few days the timing was still the same - every 2-3 hours.  Yesterday, out of the blue, he went 4 hours between his first two feedings of the day (not counting middle of the night feedings, I mean when we were awake for the day), and 5 1/2 ours until the feeding after that.  After that, he wanted to eat every 2 hours for the rest of the night, until he fell asleep.  He fell asleep an hour after his last bottle and slept for 6 hours straight (hallelujah!).  He also napped for longer in between feedings all day.

What is the deal?  I mean, I'm glad he slept longer at night and that he's giving me a little longer in between feedings because it makes it much easier to get things done, but it's strange that it happened all of a sudden.  Is he just starting to even out his schedule on his own, or could there be something else going on?

It happens all the time. Just a growth spurt maybe. He'll get back to his schedule when it passes.  My son always does it. I am feeding on demand but he usually has a pretty clear pattern and if one day he eats every 4 - 5 hours, he will eat better and more often the next day.
