another shower?

I know that you usually dont have more than one shower. Does having twins change things? I figure I will leave it up to my SIL (she planned my shower before) Would you think it was tacky if you got invited to another shower for the same woman a year later?

Re: another shower?

  • I know there are varying perspectives on this, so I think ultimately you have to do what you feel comfortable with.  But personally, I don't believe in second showers and think I would probably be annoyed if I got an invite for a second shower, particularly if it was only a year later.  Seems like they would be fishing for another gift.  I feel like you have a shower for the first pregnancy and any subsequent pregnancies you get a small gift (outfit) once the child is born.  But again, that is just my perspective.  Maybe if they want to throw something for you they could have more of a "Meet the babies" once your twins are born.
  • I second the "meet the babies" idea...but I know some people have second smaller showers and they call them "sprinkles"...I would be annoyed if I got invited to a second shower for the same person only a year later though...perhaps maybe a diaper party could be appropriate (guys and girls attend a bbq or som ething along those lines and bring a pack of diapers along....?)

  • I won't be having another shower, IMO it's tacky.  But I know several women who are having "sprinkles" the 2nd time around, mostly as a get together and sometimes there are gift amount limits ($20) or a book request, etc.
  • I am not a fan of having big showers for 2nd pregnancies but I think sprinkles with smaller groups are totally fine! One way to make it easier is for the hostess/organizer to specify disposable type items- diapers, wipes, toiletries, etc that you will of course need but are lower in cost. GL!
  • I am having another shower and don't think its tacky at all, you need double the stuff and even though you have a child already you still need one more set of things. I have a 5 year old son and some of the things i have are even recalled and i cant use again for example my crib, plus what if one of the twins is a girl i dont have anything for a girl. Anyway thats just my opinion best of luck whatever you decide.
