Fighting Sleep

Keira has been really fighting naps during the day. She will cry and cry and work herself up in such a fit it is nearly impossible to calm her down. I really have to work with her, bounce her on the ball, etc. Sometimes she will go down in her crib with the mobile on and only fuss until she finally goes down, but like today--no luck. Tried the crib 3 times and screaming. Finally bounced her on the ball and then crashed while I was holding her, and she slept on me. I really don't want to always have to hold her to get her to sleep. Anyone else have this problem?

She will go down sometimes awke just fine, but lately I am seeing a pattern I'm not too excited about! Now, don't get me wrong, I love her sleeping on me, but that can not always happen! She has to learn to go down without me!

Re: Fighting Sleep

  • With her approaching 4 months, I'd probably just try to let her fuss it out as much as you can without intervening.  Hopefully she can learn to work it out on her own as much as possible...I'm sure you don't want to have to bounce around on a ball for months!  They can typically really learn to self soothe about this age and try to learn to go to sleep consistenly on their own....maybe she just needs a little coaxing or allowed some more time to do that.  Good luck!
