So last night my husband and I started just talking about names that we like. For a boy I never knew what first names I would like, but I know I want his middle name to be Peter after my grandfather.
So, my husband (who is a huge comic book geek) started throwing out all kinds of names as a first name. He ended up on Parker.
He wants to name our son Parker Peter. He thinks this would be so "great!". I don't know how he just doesn't see that this is silly... I tried vetoing this name & yet he keeps coming back to it....
Re: Baby Name Conversation
LoL - I know - I blame myself for starting the conversation -- I was just REALLY hungry & wanted to have a conversation I knew would kill plenty of time while waiting to be served!!!
We both really like Cole Peter too --- so I'm hoping we head that way
Yup -- that's why he wants to name our poor son Parker Peter. He thinks it's funny.
Oh good - my huband isn't the only crazy one
My friend's ex named their child Logan after Wolverine. What's sad is she really could've named the kid James Logan (as James is Wolverine's actual first name) and it would have been more accurate AND not have seemed as silly, as the father's name is James.
I'm actually surprised Jimmy didn't name the kid Han or Luke...
Oh yes, that name came up too - every comic book name that ever was came up last night. It started with Logan (for wolverine) but he thinks it's too popular right now --- I told him Parker is too.
Oh goodness - my husband thought of that one too!!! Ugh. Though for us James is off the table, it's his Dad's name & like 3-4 other kids on his side of the family, I didn't want another Jimmy running around... What are guys thinking....
He tired, I was like "heck no."
What I'm trying to get him to see is that the child's initials will be PP. (well, PPZ, but that not as sad at PP) That argument didn't work.
Our family name is Marciano, so my husband, when we started dating five years ago, threw out that he always wanted to name his son Rocky.
Rocky Marciano. Seriously? It took me a good three years to dissuade him of this idea. He has finally agreed that the child would be subject to way too much teasing.
Thank goodness.
Good luck with this one, Kie. All I can do is to suggest that whenever you're in a social setting with mixed gender, bring it up so that all of the women in the room can agree with you about how silly it is. Asking his guy friends will be of no help, I promise. LOL
Eugene?? Some traditions should just not be passed on. Someone has to stop the madness...
Ugh - husbands!! That's a good idea - you're right, no girl in her right mind would agree with him!!!
at least it doesn't have to be the first name... but I agree - it has to stop somewhere!!
If it makes you feel any better, if we have a son he will be Henry "Hank" Scorpio, named after a one-time Simpsons character (You Only Move Twice- the one where Homer goes to work for Hank Scorpio, who's kind of a Bond-esque villian, yet is the Best Boss Ever. You know the one.) This was totally DH's idea.
Also, I'm really amused by Parker Peter
Well that's not nice -- but a good argument for me...
Your telling me! I would put up a little more of a fight about it if DH's dad hadn't passed away and DH's brother wasn't against the idea of children altogether.
My fiance and I have discussed names even before thinking about having a baby. We agreed on Angel Elias YEARS ago (Angel is my fiance's name, Elias is my brother).
Now suddenly my fiance decided he wants to name our son Leonidas. From the movie 300. My fiance is a marine and the spartans were the "first marine corps" - give me a break!! There is no way I'm naming my son Leonidas. Sometimes I really wonder if men ever stop being little boys lol.
Oh no. That is soooo a Veto.
I like your original name!!
Yeah, he's really worried about what their nickname is going to be. I mean, I guess it's a good thing to think about...
